Thursday 17th April 2014 Cambodia: RV AmaLotus - No Killing Fields For Me But A Splendid Evening of Khmer Folkloric Dancing & Music

I was pretty whacked after the visit to the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh so I decided to forego the tour to the Killing Fields that had been arranged for the afternoon. This may have been no bad thing according to my fellow guests but I would have liked to visit the central market in Phnom Penh.

I did, however, before dinner enjoy the Folk Music and Dancing presented by children and teenagers from a local school.  I was particularly fascinated by a one stringed instrument much like a zither that was played with great skill by a young woman to accompany the dancing.  Sadly I don’t have a photo of the instrument but I bought a CD of the music so compelling and enjoyable on the ear were the melodies and harmonies.
